Hey Ned:

I am perplexed by what is going on... I had a couple ocellatus and now a few of the Azuri Cyps have been dying one at a time a few days apart. I don't see any visible signs besides the singular fish getting pale and hanging lower in the tank about 24 hrs b4 it goes. Water parameters are normal. (no ammonia, no nitrite, trace nitrate, ph 8.2) I don't think it is agression, but if so it may be the breeding pair of daffodils. Other than that there are a few small calvus, a few orange chromides, a few bosemani rainbows, a few med congo tetras, and some small synos. 15-20% water changes every week. Any advice appreciated. Also, would it be possible to get more Azuri Frost Cyps? I am down to 5...

Thanks,

Ben

P.S.- I don't think it is the water because the tiny daffodils are doing well. The parents are not that big, maybe 2 and 2.5"...

parent daffodils can be brutal...how big is the tank?
are the fish feeding?....maybe try metronidazole?

Thanks Ned. The daffodils have taken a rear corner of a 90 gallon tank. The cyps appear to be eating up until about a day before kicking the bucket. I will try the Metronizadole food I have. Is it accurate that with freshwater, it must be in the food to be effective? The fish haven't been big fans of the Jungle anti-parasite with Metronizadole I have, so i may have to get some pure from you and soak food they will eat.

I will ups some today

you can put it right in the water, but that's expensive and not too effective in a big tank like a 90

supposedly,
you can crush some
disolve in tap water
get a spray bottle
spritz on flake food
let dry

can't hurt

maybe try a dose of clout or general cure in the main tank

Thanks again Ned, you're the man! I have a gift certificate I haven't used - please deduct any cost for the medication/shipping from that please. It is certainly worth a try. Is it easy to get more Azuri Cyps?
