i just took over my brothers 55 gallon saltwater tank. it has 4 fish in it a clownfish, a 3 stripe damsel, a yellow damsel and a lyretail wrasse. the tank has live rock as well. what i need to know is how long should i have the lights one everyday and would i benefit by adding some inverts to keep the tank clean? any info or advice about this or anything else i should know please help me out.

If it's just live rock, i'd suggest a minimum of 3 hours per day of blue light, and a maximum of 14 hours per day.
If you have live corals or anemones, I'd suggest a minimum of 8 hours of blue light and a maximum of 14 hours.
Yes It's always a good idea to add scavengers... we have green & white urchins, snails, crabs, starfish and other critters like that.
The more you keep the light on the more algae you will get.
any info or advice about this or anything else i should know please help me out.
